Why Choose Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?
• Being more present: anxiety often focuses on either the past (regrets of things done which we cannot change) or the future (anticipations of worst-case scenarios which may or may not occur), thus disconnecting you from what is currently important to you and within your control.
• Making space for your inner experiences: the ways we relate to and struggle with our thoughts and emotions often leads to more pain! Learning skills to open up to and make space for these internal experiences can, paradoxically, actually allow for more choice and values-based living.
• Doing what matters to you: looking intentionally at your values (ways of being that are important to you and are within your control; e.g. being caring or supportive towards others and/or yourself) and taking small, concrete actions towards these things—in life, small is big and slow is fast! (Kelly Wilson). When we get clearer on our reason for doing something, it makes it more manageable to do it even if/when anxiety is still there.

Maintaining your privacy and confidentiality is an important aspect of psychotherapy and we do our best to ensure that your privacy and confidentiality is maintained. There are, however, some limitations to confidentiality such as if you are at risk or harming yourself or someone else, or if a minor is at risk of being harmed. Any questions you have about this matter can be further discussed with your therapist in the first session.
Do you offer in-person and virtual therapy options?
Yes! At PeaceView Counselling, virtual therapy is available from Monday-Thursday, and in-person therapy is available on Wednesdays.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes in length. In some cases, such as when doing more intensive exposure sessions, longer sessions may be beneficial and this can be discussed with your therapist on a case-by-case basis.
What are the fees for therapy?
